Moisturizers are so important for all skin types if you are using a medical-grade skincare routine. Treatments for acne, skin discoloration, and wrinkle prevention can all cause dryness and irritation.

Oily skin can become more oily if anti-oil products are used but the skin barrier is not properly maintained.

In my experience the best moisturizer for most people is Neutrogena Hydroboost gel-cream. It has Dimethicone as the second ingredient, which gives it a wonderful whipped texture and smooths pores. It is especially great in. the AM before tinted spf or make-up . It is advertised for extra-dry skin but works well for all skin types. Actually, some dry/normal-dry or combo skin needs an extra moisture at night.

EltaMD PM Therapy is my recommendation for the winter months or those needing extra moisture.

Moisturizers are a good place to talk about hyaluronic acid because it helps moisturize and plump the skin by attracting water. It is actually naturally occurring in our skin and joints, but decreases as we gain years of life.

The active form is listed as sodium hyaluronate on the ingredient list.

Hyaluronic acid is an important ingredient for improving appearance of aging skin.

Another reason I love the Neutrogena Hydroboost is it has hyaluronic acid in it! It is not as concentrated as other products. Like with all active ingredients, cheaper versions will have sodium hyaluronate further down on ingredient list so less concentrated. The most potent form of any ingredient is in the form of a serum.

The Skinceuticals HA Intensifier is recommended for those treating for signs of aging. I like to use it around eyes/cheekbones, forehead, mouth in AM.

It's important to note that hyaluronic acid does not lend long term effects like other ingredients mentioned. It is for hydration and short-term plumping of skin although it is subtle.

For oily skin, the Effaclar Mat Mattifying Moisturizer is a great option, especially in the AM.

Did you know? There are not that many ingredients in skincare.

The marketing and different mixtures = the expansive skincare market.

When I create a #customskincare routine, I’m grouping ingredients in the right concentration and vehicle (serum v moisturizer) for YOU, your skin and goals.

I don’t get excited about a product until I turn it around and check out the active ingredients👏🏼

“I’m officially 29 weeks pregnant and I never DREAMED my skin would look this amazing. I used to cake on makeup to cover up the redness and active breakouts, now all I use is a little MD Solar Sciences BB cream/ sunscreen. I recently posted a photo to my IG/ Facebook and was flooded with friends and family commenting on my beautiful skin! I never could have imagined my skin would actually GLOW. I’ve seen such an improvement with the little changes we made a few weeks ago. This is even while my diet has been a wreck- dairy and peanut butter which typically inflame my acne.”

All on a pregnancy safe routine. Products and ingredients in a comprehensive skincare routine compliment each other and get RESULTS!

Who loves learning about skincare? 🤚🏼
Who has specific questions about their skin❓
I'm excited to announce #skincareschool for those of you that want to learn more about that particular set of concerns but don’t want a one-on-one consult.

How it works:
▫️Sign up for a class you want (use the link tree link in my IG bio) $50

▫️Send any questions in advance through link

▫️Sign on with me and the rest of the class (people with similar skin concerns)

▫️I give an overview, go over questions giving you a chance to learn from people just like you and answer questions. Q&A time throughout.

▫️I’ll email a skincare routine template to you prior to class. The goal is for everyone to leave with a completed daily and weekly skincare routine ❤️ (so ask away!)

(for the introverts or shy ones, you don’t have to turn on video or sound. You can ask questions in chat box.)

FEATURE There’s more to aloe vera than just burn treatment! I joined 2 dermatologists to discuss this ingredient on the BeachBody Blog! Full post is below, but here are 5 main reasons to get excited if you see it in an ingredient list:

Soothes Skin
Moisturizes (it’s a humectant!)
Helps reduce signs of aging
Lessens redness
Nourishes hair and scalp
