Why you need a skincare routine

Ultimately, a skincare routine is the secret to long term success for brown spots, acne, rosacea (trust me... I’m a Derm PA 😉)

Bridging the gap between your medical derm office visits and the world of skincare is what I do. I love both and your skin needs both.

Let me be 100% clear- one product alone isn't the answer. There’s SO much to say, but a COMPLETE SKINCARE ROUTINE is what we are talking about here. I mean hello! It's the biggest organ of your body and skincare is a workout for your skin. … if you have skin you need skincare for healthy skin!

If you feel the 'skincare overwhelm' you've come to the right place. 4-6 products is all you really need for a complete anti-aging and anti-breakout routine. You don’t have to get too fancy (unless you want to and enjoy that life!)

3-Step Skincare Routine

Could you commit to 3 steps in the morning and 3 steps at night?

Skincare really IS this simple: Cleanse. Treat. Moisturize.

In the morning -

*For teens, I recommend skipping the Vitamin C step. Can replace this with a niacinamide serum.

In the evenings -

  • Remove make-up with a gentle cleanser or oil cleanser
  • Apply a retinoid for your skin type (or alternative if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding)
  • Lay the moisturizer on thick! Treat while you sleep.
  • Depending on the needs of your skin, you can add eye cream, exfoliation after the cleansing, masks. Targeted treatment serums are always a good option too!

Where YOU should spend MONEY is CUSTOM

We each have different goals and areas we should spend money on for our skin type and concerns. There is no one product that solves everything.

There aren’t THAT many skincare ingredients, but there is a TON of products and marketing out there when it comes to the skincare industry. It’s easy to get overwhelmed/ frustrated/ confused in the Target aisles trying to figure out what exactly you need.

This is where I’d love for you to use me as your friend, advisor, and personal skincare consultant. I'm here to help you through it and hopefully teach you a thing or two too.

You are allowed to mix products and brands IF you are informed and pair them by ingredient type. Skincare is all about ingredients paired on purpose. Remember, a custom plan sometimes involves more in-office treatments and less money spent on daily skincare.

    Exfoliation

Once you solidify the 3 steps in your daily routine, step up your skincare routine by adding exfoliation!

We’ll prioritize in this order: daily sunscreen in the AM, retinoid in PM, then vitamin C serum in AM then, add exfoliation in the form of brightening ingredients.

Chemical exfoliators help to brighten your complexion and clear out those annoying breakouts. If you’re looking for more of a physical exfoliation measure, you can’t go wrong with textured pads, which offer both chemical and physical exfoliation.

    How it works:

Start your day with a Daily Toning Pad (use once a day or every other day). If you’re wondering why? It does a little bit of everything to help prevent AND treat breakouts and discoloration, plus improve texture!

I also recommend using Brightening Peel Pads once a week in place of your retinoid in your PM routine… to add some oomph. Hello, brightening and reversing discoloration! These pads are wonderful for all skin types and even have ingredients to decrease redness.

    Skincare is self-love.

Many prominent skin issues can be solved easily by committing to a complete skincare routine. As we age (not a bad thing!), our skin needs that extra TLC due to progressive dryness and longer cell turnover. We want it in a constant state of gentle exfoliation and moisturization. My goal is to provide you with all the tools, guidance, and education you need along the way to making healthy changes for your skin.
